Economic crisis: MPs take stock of measures at UN-IPU Hearing
Some 160 members of parliament gathered in New York on 19 and 20 November to review the impact of the global response to the economic crisis following decisions taken in the past few months by the G20, the United Nations and the Bretton Woods institutions. | IPU Assembly concludes with major decisions |

Using technology to enhance democracy
Modern information and communication technology is essential to democracy and development. The World e-Parliament Conference - the annual forum on how ICT can help to strengthen parliaments - met in Washington, D.C., from 3 to 5 November 2009. It was hosted by Ms. Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives and brought together 400 elected members and staff of 95 parliaments.
