IPU joins the Group of Friends of the Alliance of Civilizations
In the autumn of 2005, the United Nations Secretary-General launched an initiative, co-sponsored by the Prime Ministers of Spain and Turkey, for an Alliance of Civilizations. The initiative came at a time when mistrust and misperceptions threatened to weaken solidarity among States.

Shedding light on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
The IPU’s fourteenth handbook for parliamentarians will be launched at the 117th Assembly in Geneva. The handbook, produced in cooperation with UNDESA and OHCHR, explains in practical terms the rationale and objectives of a new Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol.
