Résumé : The essays in this book look at the trends perceptible in the extensive involvement of women in the economy and social and political life of the four Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland) and explore the question whether these trends are really fundamental features of these societies, is there a linear trend towards an increasingly equal division of political power between men and women, and is the « gender gap » narrowing down or has there been a « backlash of the 1980s » in Scandinavia as well as elsewhere in the world.
