Mandate There is no specific body dealing with international trade. However the Committee for Economic Affairs deals with issues related to this subject.
Membership The Committee is composed of 27 members, including the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson. Members are nominated normally for a period of four years.
Working methods Like any other Standing Committee, the Committee for Economic Affairs is empowered to: apply to a Minister in order to obtain all documents which it considers it should examine, enter into oral or written consultation with a minister, hold hearings, undertake working visits, obtain information from an advisory body, call in external experts, and propose the designation of major projects to the House.
Relations with other parliamentary bodies The relationship with others parliamentary bodies is independent, open and where necessary based on cooperation.
Relations with external bodies The Committee is free to seek the advice of external bodies within budgetary limits especially on the level of WTO ministerial conferences.
