Mandate A: Bill on preventing and curbing the spread of HIV/AIDS in May 2000. B: Adopted Law on preventing and curbing the spread of HIV/AIDS in June 2002. C: Parliamentary response, including raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and law, anti-discrimination and stigma.
Membership The commission is composed of nine members (one chairperson, one vice-chairperson and one secretary) elected at the plenary session at the beginning of each term for a five-year mandate.
Working methods 1. The agenda is set in consultation with the members of Commission. 2. The Commission may invite any minister to clarify certain issues under his/her field of responsibility, (Article 97 the Constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia). 3. Decisions are usually taken by majority vote and with the consent of the Permanent Committee (bureau) of the National Assembly. 4. The Commission makes its report or documents public with the consent of the Permanent Committee (bureau) of the National Assembly.
Relations with other parliamentary bodies Shares information and works together with related commissions.
Relations with external bodies In general, the commission works closely with relevant institutions such as the National AIDS Authority (NAA), the National Centre for HIV/AIDS, Dermatology and STDs, (NCHADS) and non-governmental organizations including UNAIDS, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, AFPPD, IPPF, APDA and IPU.
