NEW HEADQUARTERS FOR IPU IN GENEVA IN 2001

The new Union Headquarters in Geneva scheduled for delivery in August 2001. The "House of Parliaments" will be able to accomodate Executive Committee and other inter-parliamentary meetings. It will help to enhance the visibility of the Union as the Organisation of World Parliaments and provide the necessary space for its activities. The total cost of the project is 9.5 million Swiss Francs.

The land will be provided to the IPU freehold for a period of 60 years by the State of Geneva and the funds will be made available in the form of an interest-free loan from the Foundation for Buildings for International Organisations (FIPOI), with the approval of the Swiss Federal Council.
