In the context of the 2010 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), taking place during the first three weeks of May at United Nations Headquarters in New York, the IPU will be organizing a parliamentary event in the afternoon of Wednesday, 5 May, at 777 United Nations Plaza (44th Street and First Avenue).

The event will provide an opportunity for legislators to review progress in meeting international commitments in the area of nuclear disarmament, as well as to discuss parliamentary action in follow-up to the resolution on the role of parliaments in advancing nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament and securing the entry into force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, adopted by the 120th IPU Assembly (Addis Ababa, April 2009).

Delegations are invited to confirm their participation in the parliamentary meeting to the IPU Office to the United Nations in New York, using the registration form that was circulated together with the convocation. In accordance with established practice, all delegations are expected to make arrangements for UN badges and local accommodation through their Permanent Missions in New York.
