EIGHTH MEETING OF WOMEN SPEAKERS OF PARLIAMENT

	The Eighth Meeting of Women Speakers of Parliament, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union, will be held on 12 and 13 November 2013, in New York. The Meeting aims to give participants the opportunity to contribute to the debates of the IPU Parliamentary Hearing on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to be held on 14 and 15 November. Debates will focus on highlighting gender dimensions and stressing the important role of speakers of parliaments in taking forward the SDGs. The meetings of women Speakers of Parliament organized by the IPU aim at providing to women in the highest decision making positions of parliament a regular forum and opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences on gender issues which are of interest to their national and international agendas.
