The IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians will take place in Tokyo on 27 and 28 May 2015 on the theme Democracy, peace and prosperity. It is organized by the IPU and the National Diet of Japan and will bring together young men and women members of national parliaments from across the world.
The Conference aims to explore ways and means to address the obstacles to youth participation and selfrealisation in a peaceful, safe and youth-friendly socio-economic environment through the democratic process. In many parts of the world, young people are disproportionately affected by unemployment, the low quality of education, poor access to health and violence and conflict. At the same time, youth, including young parliamentarians, are also at the forefront of political and civil activism relating to socio-economic equity, access to health, sustainable development and conflict resolution. The Conference will be a powerful platform for strengthening links between young politicians and engaging them in devising youth-led new and creative solutions for prosperous, peaceful, inclusive and safe societies.
The IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Tokyo will be held at the First Members’ Office Building of the National Diet of Japan. The working languages will be English, French, Arabic, Spanish and Japanese. |
