Membership |
The Standing Committee on Social Affairs shall consist of not more than seven members of whom four shall constitute a quorum. The members shall be chosen so as fairly to represent the House in general and the proportion of Government and Opposition members in particular. Committee members serve a five-year term, that is, a full legislative cycle. Due to a recent change in the composition of the House and a consequent change in some committee memberships, the Social Affairs Committee is currently composed of six members.

Subjects dealt with |
During the current legislature (starting April 2013) the Social Affairs Committee has dealt with various issues, including: foster care, the age of sexual consent, the implementation of a sexual health policy, organ donation, drug abuse and domestic violence. |
