Twenty-three MPs sit on the Committee. They are selected individually and/or according to different party lists. |
Working methods |
After its inaugural session, Parliament sets up its standing committees. According to the Standing Orders of the Hungarian National Assembly, committee sessions are open to the press, permanent guests and non-governmental organizations. |
Relations with other parliamentary bodies |
Through procedural motion, the Committee may interact with other parliamentary bodies. A standing committee may set up sub-committees from among its members to perform certain tasks. The rules applicable to the functioning of the standing committee are appropriately applied to the sub-committee in the absence of other provisions made by the sub-committee. |
Relations with external bodies |
The number and scope of tasks of standing committees depends basically on the structure of the government. The official who sets the agenda may issue an invitation to the Ombudsman, the President of the State Audit Office and members of the government simultaneously with the convocation to attend the session of the standing committee.
See also question 8. In addition, the Secretary General of Parliament keeps a register of registered national interest groups and social organizations which may be invited to attend.
