1. To coordinate HIV/AIDS activities of Parliament and provide a link between Parliament and the Uganda AIDS Commission.
2. To scrutinize HIV/AIDS policies and monitor and evaluate government activities.
3. Examine and make recommendations on relevant bills and other matters relating to HIV/AIDS.
4. Initiate bills/motions required for combating the epidemic in Uganda.
5. Network with other parliaments on the problem of HIV/AIDS and related matters.
6. Report to Parliament at least twice a year.
