The Committee is responsible for: (i) investigating individual complaints; (ii) drafting laws; and (iii) debating the human rights situation in the country and abroad. |
| Membership |
The Committee has nine members who serve a four-year term. The allocation of seats is proportional to the size of the parliamentary groups in the House. Two-thirds must be from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and one-third from the Republika Srpska. |
| Working methods |
The Chairman of the Committee assesses the urgency of a topic and places it on the agenda. Field visits are organised if necessary. The Committee's report is public and may give rise to press conferences. |

There is cooperation with other bodies, including the Organization for European Security and Cooperation and the Office of the High Representative. |
