The Bureau comprises four parliamentarians, including one coordinator and his deputy, who is also in charge of the Network of Women Parliamentarians and, with the assistance of three parliamentary clerks, coordinates the Section's activities.
The members of the Bureau are drawn from the Social and Cultural Affairs Committee (CASC), the Côte d'Ivoire National Assembly's permanent committee for health matters.
|
Working methods |
At meetings of the enlarged Bureau, proposed topics and activities are placed on the agenda. Their consideration leads to the preparation of the Network's annual action plan.
In accordance with its mission to step up the national fight against HIV/AIDS, the Parliamentary Network works in close cooperation with the ministries responsible for HIV/AIDS matters. The ministries are informed about the Network's activities. They are often asked to provide technical support.
In addition, certain officials from those ministries are invited to inform parliamentarians about their activities at parliamentary information meetings on AIDS.
|
Relations with other parliamentary bodies |
The Parliamentary Network answers to the APF's Education, Communication and Cultural Affairs Committee and is in close contact with the National Assembly's Social and Cultural Affairs Committee. |
Relations with external bodies |
The Parliamentary Network has partnerships with networks and NGOs working to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic, notably the Network of Media, Arts and Cultural Professionals, with a view to spreading knowledge of its activities as widely as possible among the population.
The Government and NGOs are invited actively to participate in parliamentary information meetings by providing the Network with specialists to present specific topics.
A technical partnership has also been established with UNAIDS in the country.
The Network is also a member of the Country Coordinating Mechanism of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (CCM-CI).
