On 25 October 2011 two royal decrees were issued: one dissolving the Senate that had been appointed in November 2010 and the other appointing the new Senate. Mr. Taher Al-Masri was re-appointed Senate President. The new Senate comprises 60 senators including 18 who had served in the previous legislature. Seven women were appointed in 2011 down from nine in 2010.
