The following 52 seats were renewed in March 2015:
- Eleven seats in each of the country's four provinces: seven general seats, two seats reserved for women and two seats reserved for technocrats and ulemas (religious leaders);
- Four general seats in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), located along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border;*
- Two seats reserved for technocrats and ulemas in the federal capital; and
- Two of the four minority seats.**
* The elections to FATA were held on 20 March 2015, in lieu of 5 March.
** There are a total of four seats reserved for non-Muslims (one per province). Two of the four non-Muslim senators elected in 2012 served a three-year term, while two others will serve a six-year term.
In all, 11 women were elected in 2015. As at 25 June 2015, 19 out of a total of 104 senators are women.
