BACKGROUND
Dates of election / renewal (from/to) 15 January 2013
Purpose of elections 150 members and the Speaker were appointed for a four-year term by the Royal Order issued on 11 January 2013, effective as of 15 January.

The Standing Orders of the Consultative Council were revised so as to allow women to be represented at a minimum level of 20% of the 150 members, which resulted in 30 women sitting on the Consultative Council for the first time.

Since its inception in 1993, the Consultative Council has been composed exclusively of male members, although it has had women advisers since 2006.
