The Committee comprises 7 members. On the basis of the nominations submitted by each parliamentary group, the Chamber constitutes the standing committees, taking into account the different political opinions. |
Working methods |
Standing Committees (Comisiones) may establish subcommittees (Comites), made up of its members as operative and investigation bodies, which also serve to maintain contact with citizens and State institutions.
Committees are responsible for organizing public hearings to inform citizens and social institutions about their work. According to Article 49 of the Standing Orders, they must devote one sitting per week for such hearings at which citizens or representatives of institutions can put forward their views or suggestions as regards legislative questions, scrutiny of government action or administration. Committees may further organise special events to study subjects falling within their competence.
Committees have the power to send for persons, papers and records.
