Issues for consideration are selected in the plenary and referred to the Committee for consideration. Committee meetings are closed, although its report is read in the plenary in a public session. If the report is convincing, the plenary can commission an inquiry into the matter (for instance, on the status of women and gender equality). |

Given the small number of women senators (4 out of 120), they work closely with the 60 women deputies in the National Assembly (Committee on Women and the Family). |
