Up to seven information modules cover the different aspects of each chamber's structure and functioning (see explanations in the About section). Parliaments at a glance offers an alternative way of looking at PARLINE information: data is aggregated globally or by region. For each dataset there is a graph and an aggregate data table. The graphs are generated dynamically, thus providing a real-time snapshot of the great diversity to be found among the world's parliaments. The datasets currently available are: Structure Divides parliaments by their structure: bicameral and unicameral. SEE DETAILS Seats Shows the range of sizes of parliamentary chambers in terms of number of currently occupied seats. SEE DETAILS Term Displays an aggregate of the length of the parliamentary term in the world's parliaments. SEE DETAILS Presidents Presents the number of women and men who hold the position of president of a parliamentary chamber. SEE DETAILS Women parliamentarians Displays the current percentage of women parliamentarians. SEE DETAILS Electoral systems Identifies the type of electoral system used to elect members of the different parliamentary chambers. SEE DETAILS Mode of designation Displays the percentage of parliamentary seats filled according to the three possible modes: direct election, indirect election, appointment. SEE DETAILS The detailed data that is used to build the graphs and aggregates can be exported in two file formats: Export to Excel requires Microsoft® Excel XP or later versions Choose Export to CSV (Comma Separated Value) format if you intend to use the data in another application such as Microsoft® Access. This option can also be useful for indirect export to Microsoft® Excel 2000 or earlier versions (see "How to ..." section for explanations).
