In the Islamic Republic of Iran, any person or legal entity can lodge a written complaint concerning the functioning of the three branches, Executive, Legislative and Judiciary, according to Article 90 of the Majlis Rules of Procedure. Such complaints are dealt with by the Article 90 Committee, which refers the cases to the competent authorities for legal investigation. Article 90 (Complaints, Petitions) states that "Whoever has a complaint concerning the work of the Assembly or the executive power or the judicial power can forward his complaint in writing to the Assembly. The Assembly must investigate his complaint and give a satisfactory reply. In cases where the complaint relates to the executive or the judiciary, the Assembly must demand proper investigation in the matter and an adequate explanation from them, and announce the results within a reasonable time. In cases where the subject of the complaint is of public interest, the reply must be made public." |

There are 17 committee members, who are selected at the beginning of each term of the Majlis for a four-year period according to their speciality and their own wish. |

This Committee functions according to the Majlis Rules of Procedures and any complaint from a person or legal entity is examined by legal experts and referred to it. The final verdict of the Committee is sent to the competent legal or judicial authorities |

The Article 90 Committee is one of the 12 specialised committees of the Majlis; it investigates complaints from other committees, which all cooperate, interact and exchange information with it. |

All governmental and non-governmental institutions must cooperate with the committee. |
